Big news for Korean Language and Cultural Center of Sacramento (KLCCSac)! 🎉

Our organization was selected and awarded a @calartscouncil #ImpactProjects #grant! This state program funds collaborations between California artists and their communities, centering art forms rooted in the communities they serve.

Over the next year, we’ll be partnering with local artist Seonyoung Jeong to bring Korean folk art (#minhwa) to Sacramento:

🎨 Community Minhwa Workshop – October 2026
A hands-on, 3-hour workshop for 30 community members, painting with hanji, brushes, and natural pigments.

📚 Chaekgado Participatory Art Project – March–May 2027
A 10-session program with our Korean school students, 80 participants creating chaekgado (traditional “scholar’s bookshelf” paintings) together.

🖼️ Minhwa Exhibition – September 2027
A free public exhibition showcasing the artwork our community created throughout the year.

새크라멘토 한국문화센터(KLCCSac)가 California Arts Council(캘리포니아 예술위원회)의 Impact Projects 지원 대상 기관으로 선정되었습니다! 🥳🏆
이 주 정부 지원 프로그램은 커뮤니티에 기반을 두고 캘리포니아의 아티스트와 지역사회가 함께 협력하는 프로젝트를 지원합니다.
앞으로 1년 동안, 저희는 정선영 민화 작가님과 함께 세 가지 특별한 프로젝트로 새크라멘토 지역에 한국의 전통 민화를 선보일 예정입니다. 🎨🖌️

🎨 1. 커뮤니티 민화 워크숍 (2026년 10월)
30명의 지역 주민들과 함께 한지, 붓, 천연 안료를 사용하여 직접 민화를 그려보는 체험형 워크숍
📚 2. 책가도 참여형 아트 프로젝트 (2027년 3월 ~ 5월)
우리한국학교 학생 80여 명과 함께 민화의 대표적인 그림인 책가도를 완성해가는 10회 과정의 특별 프로그램
🖼️ 3. 민화 전시회 (2027년 9월)
1년 동안 우리 커뮤니티가 정성껏 완성한 작품들을 한자리에 선보이는 공개 전시회

지원단체로 선정되어 우리 문화의 아름다움을 지역사회에 널리 알릴 기회가 생겨 정말 기쁩니다. 앞으로 펼쳐질 민화 프로젝트에 많은 관심과 참여 부탁드립니다! 🚀💙

What began three years ago as a Korean club of 50 students has grown into the Korean Language and Cultural Center of Sacramento – KLCCSac, now serving 170+ students ages 4–60! 🇰🇷❤️

This past weekend, we celebrated another exciting milestone—the opening of the newest home of Our Korean School! 🎉

We were honored to celebrate with Congressman Kevin Kiley & Chelsee Kiley; Andrew Powers, representing Senator Angelique Ashby; and Christopher Gill, representing Assemblywoman Maggy Krell.

Since KLCCSac opened, Seonyoung has been a vital pillar of our community, leading weekly Minhwa classes, running popular summer camp workshops, hosting winter holiday events, and even leading a successful workshop at Sac State last semester! 🖌️❤️
